Hi everyone.

Went to the little shop in my street on Saturday night with the dog. Heard loud screaming to my left. It was a woman being robbed by a guy on a motorbike. I ran over pushed the robber off his bike and he jumped up and punched me hard in the face. He tried to get away again so I pushed him off again and got punched again. He gave the lady her iPhone back so I would stop. He got back on again and lashed out at me again. I wouldn't let him go. The bike fell over and then he ran off.

itss ok to have a go--but you could have got worse--10yrs ago my son was jumped by 2 muggers-I happened to see it-defended him-got stabbed-died twice-luckily it was a quiet day so ambulance got me to hospital quick-now got 2 scars like belly buttons for my trouble--and to top it off when at court-one of the assailants tried prosecuting me for breaking his jaw and fracturing- his skull -which made him blind in 1 eye-told the judge the truth-if i knew he had a knife would have taken it off him and killed him with it---I got no prosecution he had 4 other mugging offences-1 was a 80 year old man-still that lad dead now so world is better place-got shanked in nick
You were very brave to defend that woman-however-you are bruised-could have been worse-take up a martial art-not just to defend yourself-it will help with confidence/fitness too-

Very brave of you to have a go and I'm sorry to see you have been injured as a result. I hope you make a fast and full recovery.

Sadly, from the recent crime statistics parts of London have about 10 muggings a day. There is much cashpoint crime from Romanian gangs and this along with Bulgarians is going to get much worse from January 2014. Paris currently has major problems. 

Unfortunately, for a small percentage of the population crime is their career of choice and many people from poorer Eastern European countries are attracted to the rich pickings in rich European capitals like London, Paris and Berlin. With the EU open borders this problem is not going to go away anytime soon.
