I had a text from a police friend at Guildford on the day it happened which read "who on earth would carry out a robbery and use a Vauxhall Omega as a getaway car".

Maybe he has an idea the culprit is an OOF Member.

Mine is left unattended almost every day at a station but no interest shown. It has been parked in same spot for years.

Oh, I've felt tempted more than once ;D

I have for years wanted an excuse to get rid of the Omega but cannot quite find the guts to do it. It has cost little money in repairs these last 2 years and does the job. MOT beckons as does the annual service. Tempted just to try out on MOT only basis first. The car has such an amazing array of idiosyncrasies - fault lights on for months/ years - then disappear for months/years. Weird. If it passes without much aggro then will continue to keep as station/ local car.

I looked back at repair file - at 3 years old Omega  had new short engine, new sat nav system and new sun roof under warranty. It failed its 3 year MOT on some minor suspension point. The file is quite fat after that but not unusual apart from new engine in 2008 due to VX problem which they recognised and fitted new one at their cost.
Phaeton file at 4 years is empty apart from service and 2 tyres and a recall on water pump (which hadn't given me any trouble). The rear tyres are still ok after 37000 miles!!

Omega is a weird car but everyone who rides in it is amazed by its smoothness and space.
