What have I done with my nav disc?
« on: 21 October 2013, 21:16:42 »

In the spirit of TB's old "where have I put my bike keys" thread....

Wtf have I done with my Nav disc?  Looked in all the cd cases, it's not in the car, or the office and car related stuff. And no its not in the other garage either. :(

Haven't lent it out have I? No, didn't think so.

Its driving me mad, I know I put it somewhere safe, that I'd remember. Eejit! ;D

Not in HU.

Could have sworn I put the nav disc in the cd case belonging to the cd that's now in the nav slot. I took the nav disc out because the HU kept ejecting it randomly. So clearly the HU is constantly reading the disc and wearing the laser. Not so a CD, so the CD stayed in.

Well I guess the nav laser is safe for a while longer. Until I find it. :-\

One of mine is no rather good - when the unit loses its speed signal, it never updates its GPS location, as it (kinda rightly) assumes you no movio, so GPS must be borrox.

Tomtom keeps driving my up garden paths. Literally.

It's either motorways, or two/one wheel tracks. Or, it refuses to accept certain roads exist. Like the road by spindlesham mill between Readring (not a typo) and Reading.

I'm literally two minutes from my house before it re routes. Telling me to u-turn onto a 20min diversion to the same destination just round the corner. Poxy arsing thing.   >:(

Or, another one. Bracknell to Reading. 329 all the way right? Wrong. In Tomtoms world. No you have to turn off the m4jcn 10, go up to 11, come back through the Earley, back to winnersh and back on to the 329 there. Wtf?  ???
Its like it doesn't know there's a bridge Accross the m4 at jcn 10.  ???

Stupid Dutch numpties!

Having said that, its easier to programme that than the ncdc, and I know where I'm going locally. Sometimes ::)

;D

There's a belting storm here btw. :o

Now do you understand why mine was disposed off just as I came off the Aston Expressway?

Absolutely useless bloody things. But on the upside, does work when your ABS ECU doesn't ;D.

Actually, thats a lie, it still doesn't work - invariably for the important last mile, I revert to my old BT training for finding customer premises...  ...drive around in ever decreasing circles...

It seems to be the Cross country bit it struggles with. Lanes and minor roads.

Built up areas are fine.

The last mile to Newent is a bit tricky, so fair do's. Bit excessive for one journey though. :P

What Map versions are you guys using ??

My Tom Tom Go700 (extremely ancient) is using the latest Western Europe 915 map and has none of the problems mentioned, it seems to avoid garden paths with some alacrity ..  :)
