Oh, and I forgot to mention LPG POIs. Couldn't live without those.
Officially, the crApple versions of TT can't use any external POIs.

You found a good POI source? The Calor/Shell one isn't too bad, but not found anything more inclusive.

I thought they did (or used to), but bloody expensive, so drivers used consumer ones, and all the media went beserk over how poor satnavs were

For the job I expect of it, TomTom is fine for me, with the advantage that you can take it and all your favourites to any car and no messing about with CDs that get lost and readers with dodgy lasers.

Can't recall any time it has sent me up the garden path with recent maps and the GPS receivers are so good these days that there isn't a need for it to be built-in with speed signal input, etc.

Totally agree, plus it can easily be updated - both data (maps) and Operating System - via the internet at zero cost, and personal preferences, points of interest etc, can be added, which cannot be said for built-in CD driven devices.

:)

Still prefer my NCDC, it works where my Tom Tom doesn't (Heat reflective windscreen) and as no modern Tom Tom's have an external antenna input I'm stuck with an ancient Go model!

The Laser issue can be fixed, I've done a few now!

I would still buy an up to date Tom Tom if I could buy a fixed active dock with external antenna connection.......

iPhone with a blu tooth GPS module?

What's involved with replacing the laser? Tricky?

I downloaded one in a hurry recently, after rebuilding my TomTo and it's not too bad. Can't remember where it came from but will check. It has a lot of "off forecourt" places which may or may not be there, but good up-to-date info on the mainstream stations from what a 550 mile journey and a bit of local messing around has shown. Unless desperate, I tend to go for the POI names that are obviously mainstream (Shell / Morrisons, etc.).

Problem I've had with poi's is they include every single possible lpg related outlet. From farm shops to central heating installers, to old forecourts that no longer exist.

Barely 50% of use, ime. :(

Aye? ....h u removal, which you needed my help with the other day. ;D then I'm assuming a load of small screws and cases to reveal a mechanism, with a single electrical plug, and possibly some small cogs and springs that run off and hide just when you need them. No?

I suspect I needed your tool. Works well, that does :y

No, don't attempt it yourself. Buy that Wood bloke a curry, and get him to do it. There are things you are good at, and things that you need to learn by watching someone else, as it has invisible pixies running around with electrons. No disrespect intended, hope none taken.

Its not quite unbolt, 1 connector, rebolt together anyway.
