Heating oil prices.
« on: 04 November 2013, 17:26:44 »

I'm now £569.10 the poorer after buying 1000 litres of oil. :'( :'(

The only bright side is that I managed to negotiate the price down from 57.05ppl to 54.20ppl exclusive of the dreaded V.A.T, and a couple of phone calls saved me about £28.

Not much I know but better than a knee to the groin.

When we moved into this house some 9 years ago the cost of oil was 20ppl plus V.A.T. >:( >:( >:( >:(

That's what you get for heating your country estate with fossil fuels, you planet killing planet hater, you!

Get some wind farms built, I hear they're the next great thing...

Incidentally, how long does that 1000L last you, Opti? Just wondering as the place in Cornwall was on oil (and roasty toasty it was too) and at the time I was pondering how efficient oil heating is in general.

With the modern wonders of hindsight, perhaps you should have budgeted for a 25000 ltr tank when you moved in ::)

£5k to fill at 20ppl, but you'd be ok until 2029 :y

not that long i'd wager.....unless mr opti is a tightwad on doesnt turn the heating on....

my bro has a 2000l tank and i believe he gets it refilled several times a year.....he tries to get it filled before the heavy frost and or snow turns up....as the tanker refuses to deliver....steep lane to his driveway.

I suspect that that is a good price and if Mr Opti needs to fill up again before the spring, he'll pay more in February (say) especially if we have a hard winter!  :-\

Of course as The Duke of Lincolnshire sits in The House of Lords, he'll put it all on expenses!!  ::)  I think he likes to have a little whinge now and again!!  :P  ;D

Depends on the size of your house, Aaron. To be fully warm 24/7 we probably need about 3,000 litres each year. However, we make do with 1000 litres and a couple of extra jumpers. :y

The whole family moans. :-\ :'(

Well if I had a mansion :D not I would plant a 36000l tank below ground as you would get another 20% discount when you buy tanker load :y

If the rumours are true you should be able to get a sizable solar farm on your vast country estate Mr Opti :y

I find that hard to believe - I've seen some of the houses in South Lincs!  :P (Actually my parents recently moved to Market Deeping, right on the South Lincs/Cambs border .. not into a stately pile, though!)
