Hi there, am new to the forum (and Omega ownership).

Have bought a 2000 V6 elite estate with 81k on the clock and last had a belt change at 43k so its getting ready.

Can anybody tell me if AutoVaux sell quality parts i.e. Genuine or good standard OEM stuff. Their cambelt kit for mine is about £75 whereas it seems to be about £100 elsewhere.

Similar for the water pump. £27 at AutoVaux and lots more elsewhere for genuine.

Is there a hire facility for the locking tools available on the forum?

Cheers, Ian

GM/Gates/SKF or Contiteh all ok for belt kits, avoid the cheap water pumps and if yours is ok why change it at all,its not cam belt driven so poses no threat of belt failure :y

Thanks for the water pump info. It had a new pump at Vauxhall 2 years ago so i'll leave alone.

I've only had the car for a few days but currently stuck in the house feeling knackered after a cold so not had chance to do much to it.

I must admit to being very surprised at how nice the Omega is. I wasn't looking for an Omega, I needed something with rear doors and it just fell into my lap so to speak.

I personally would avoid Autovaux like the plague. Their idea of "genuine" most certainly does not match mine. If if a company engages in that sort of practice, I will not touch them with a shitty stick.

My cambelt kits come from Sutton Auto Factors, normally Contitech. GM ones, even on trade club, are just too dear.

As recommended by many on here, got mine from Sutton Auto factors trading online as http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/

Two years later no problems. :y
