No heat....
« on: 14 November 2013, 14:40:03 »

Carrying on from my heater pipes saga......

The HBV pipes are all hot, so assume that means it's working.

In the cabin, heat is only coming through the central vents and bloody cold in all the others :(

What would be the next thing to check please?

TIA.  :y

The fact you have heat from the centre vents means the matrix/HBV is working as advertised ... I would suspect the blend flaps as they control were the air goes ... can be seen - with a bit of difficulty by lying on your back on a seat with head in the footwell and look behind the consul .... get someone to make differing selections and see if the flaps move at all ..

This "might" help a little ...

Thanks Entwood, just been out and had a go at the guide you passed on, unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the problem either  :(

The arm at the back is secure already and moves into position as I switch the climate control on. Vents open and close depending on selection, but still only warm air comes out of the central vents. This never gets hot either, just warm.

Any other suggestions please?  ???

Surfing the net looking for possible solutions. One that I'm at, at the moment suggests removing the pollen filter and opening the valve/flap and this should allow hot air into the cabin.

Waiting to put the baby up for a nap before I can go and check this out  :-\

Thats the recirculating flap .. normally open to admit fresh air, closed it recirculates the cabin air continuously ...  will get hotter faster .. but humidity also builds up and causes extreme misting especially in damp weather.

Are the pipes into/out of the matrix as hot as the pipes at the HBV ?? if both are then the flow through the matrix should be good and its purely a distribution problem, if they are not, then its flow through the matrix ... have you tried taking the vac pipe off the top of the HBV ?? (block the pipe with a small screw but leave the HBV side open to atmosphere )

Just been out and tried that mate. Engine temp approx 85/90, vac pipe off HBV and plugged with screw. Both HBV pipes into bulkhead hot.

Turn climate control onto high, only central vent barely warm as normal, all other vents blowing bloody freezing!  :-\

Have you already tried resetting the climate control system? (press both off and auto buttons for about 5 seconds and the climate system will drive all the servos from end to end. It can help if any of the servos have lost their calibration)
