Led bulbs are the way forward  :y :y

You get a real good light from them for only about 3w energy equivilant to a 35w gu10 and don't blow as much :)

Not quite yet, the tech is a few years off being useful and giving a good wide spectrum of light output

Am I missing something here?

Since when has low energy bulbs had anything to do with this shite?

What we need under GD is a "Gobshite" section, lets see, the moderators can be stemo, vamps & opti .........

Isn't it supposed to be about a specific subject as by the OP?

It seems to me that a significant % of posts in this section then get hijacked by people talking shite ........

Sorry - just speaking based on what I see .........

OK, I can't do the multi quote bit so assuming you 3 points I will respond as follows:-

1. Yes, but this if OOF
2. Yes, but this is OOF, this is General Chat and the majority of people regularly on are the ones trying to keep it going, this may mean some banter or abuse of those who we are comfortable to abuse - right or wrong...... :-\ :-\
3. Your post is ambiguous, I read it as General Chat is shite...... :-[

Ok, we are all encouraged to use these compact fluorescent light bulbs .......

You know the ones, that use only a little electricity & last for ages  :-X

On the downside, they are now quite a bit more expensive than they were when they were being subsidised and are apparently harmful to the environment.

I had one fail a few days ago, well outside any guarantee as it was about 18 months old - so no chance of finding the receipt!

Anyway, it was branded Homebase on the bulb itself (so no arguement as to where it came from) - so I contacted their customer services people and quoted the multitude of numbers printed on the bulb. I got a result as they have provided me with a voucher - its not massive compensation, but will cover the cost of a replacement bulb and fuel to my nearest Homebase store.

So, there you go, a happy ending ......
and have you noticed how much they cost now got them last year from asda for a quid ,now 3.15 each  :( :(

Of course it is...mostly. But most people know and accept this. Somewhere amongst all the piss taking and bs, there is usually genuine opinion and helpful input. If I post up a question or piece of info, I am quite disappointed if someone doesn't call me stupid or question my parentage. ;D

Oh...and I don't want Vamps or Opti as co-admins, thank you. ::)

I bought a crap load from Tesco's about 15 years ago when they where doing a special green deal on them, think they worked out at about 30p each, all still going strong except the ones I fitted to lights that had dimmers on them, although they lasted a fair while before giving up the ghost.  :y
