I went down a different route, far more comprehensive, for around £20 more...  ...but lost the flexibility to have it all (neatly) in a carry around case. The other downside, is mine lacks any torx sockets, so need to buy a rail.

Below is a link to the ''free'' item. Looks good. Really like the Advanced wrenches  :y

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_946417_langId_-1_categoryId_165572
The included spanner set is not Advanced, hence not covered by the life warranty.

The Advanced Spanner set/tray has recently been for sale for under £30, but only goes to 24mm (from 6mm, all sizes included).

I wonder if Halfords putting together the bundle of 150pc, plus spanner set is an admission of realisation that they have dropped a bollock by removing so many spanners from the socket set....?

They're not Advanced and reading the reviews they're not Professional either..... presumably they'd simply be labelled ''Halfords''  :-\

Not that it really matters.... they're exactly the same thing.

Ps, £30??? Is that the spanner set that I put the link to? Is that on its own? Where did you see this cos I really want that set and obviously I'd prefer to pay £30 instead of £49.99  ;D

Only without the lifetime warranty, thus I suspect not quite the same quality. That said, they look reasonable quality.

Been in most stores recently, as part of the 1/2 price socket set sales (usually £59.99). I've been entirely unable to find online, so I end up ringing around all the local stores, and had the last one from Banbury about a fortnight ago.

Its the tray, designed to fit in tool chest drawers.

Yeah, sorry, apart from that :)

Looked at the reviews. pretty decent  :y

I wouldn't (personally) want to use the plastic box to hang up on the world.... which reminds me I'm going to make a shadow board when I get a chance. pretty handy

Shadow boards are incredibly handy in educational and other shared workshop places, for immediately seeing if something hasn't been replaced. Not sure it has a use in a home environment.

It's not to see if anything missing, he needs to write what they are underneath.

When your small tool chest is over flowing and there's not enough room in the garage to swing a cat it makes sense to me.

Poor student mate. Plus the aforementioned lack of space  ;)
