Roofboxes
« on: 01 June 2008, 19:20:32 »

Hi all

So thinking baout getting a roofbox for our holiday since theres not gonna be so much room in the boot with the dog now. Weve used a trailer before borrowed from someone but its got either a dodgy wheel bearing or bent axel so ive been told, which is fine for their infrequent and local use but were going on holiday to scotland so its some journey

So yeah any advice on what to get and where to get them cheap?

Thanks in advance

All half price in Halfords at the mo.

I would buy as big as you can afford ;)  They soon fill up

I fell lucky and got one cheap from Macro

Just to clear this issue up the dog (scooby, collie cross) doesnt live in the car, roofbox or trailer. He goes in the car when were going somewhere.

Still good laughs though

Yep, Halfords have some good deals on. If you are thinking of taking it abroad make sure you get one which opens from either side, or from the drivers side so you are not standing in the line of traffic. We put all of our clothes in it, in those cheap zip up suit bags, they lie flat so you don't have to iron them.Leaves the boot free for those essential duty free packs of Grolsch. We have used ours many times and through some really heavy rain and it didn't let a drop in. Costs you about 2mpg with it on, and make sure you have somewhere to store it as they are quite an awkward shape and size when not on the car. Halfords always have end of season bargains on, and that is not too far away now. Happy holidays.
