Go-Go-Gadget!.....don`t miss such a life-changing opportunity if it is possible Tunnie.....I lived in Northern California for 25 years and would go back tomorrow (tonight actually) if it were possible, I miss the lifestyle, freedom and space....not to mention the 'team-player' positive attitudes of co-workers and the great leisure/work balance that U.S employers offer professionals.

Go for it.....and go with the positive-attitude of making a life there and you`ll live the dream. :y

Go for it!!  :y

I did it about 4 years ago and stayed out there for a couple of years. Cost of living is lower and better quality of life IMHO.

Great experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat if SWMBO would let me!! :y

WOW, loads of responces people, cheers  :y

Humming and arring it on my delayed train back. I shall be focusing in a different area too, been at my current place 12 months, so 12 months on this stuff, and another 12 months on something else would look great on the CV.

Plan to register my interest tommorow morning  :y

RE: Medical issue / No NHS, this did cross my mind. However i do have full Bupa cover which my work provide, so i need to find out if this will still be valid.

I belive the company will sort out legal stuff.

Only trouble is there was 3 in the team i work in, now only 2, if i leave, we are stuffed, a replacement for me needs to be found and trained up before i leave, i think!

But i will still register my interest, cause the CEO was keen for people to go over there!  :D

In your position, I think I'd do it.

I work for a large US company, and they do not treat their staff well at all.  Its the only american company I've ever worked for, so don't know if its the norm.  I know my collegues in the states get very little holiday vacation.

I think most US companies are probably similar in the experiences of those who I know who have worked for them. You are a "resource" or an "associate" rather than a human being. Some people don't have a problem with that, some do. Not sure if it's any different in this country to the other side of the pond, except that employment legislation is probably weaker over there from the emloyee's POV.

Sounds great, I was over there a few years ago, and enjoyed it tremendously. However that was a good 15 years ago, and things  have changed a lot. You will have to think fast in todays ever changing environment, and deliver lots of products on  time and under budget. Also do you want to live there?. The laid back Hollywood image is nice but is probably far from reality. If you are good (which you probably are  :y) I would expect a substantial rise in wages for that move. Will they pay to have the Mig transported out there?.  :-? Also in London they stab you, over there they shoot you.  :'( :'( :'(

Sorry for the slight reality check, but the world is changing fast at present, and trying to guess what's going to happen is difficult. Which would you prefer as president, Tony Blair or George Bush ?.

cheers Ken
