Coolant transfer pipe - O rings plus glue?
« on: 12 January 2014, 19:43:23 »

Some threads earlier I asked about size of bastard bolt as up to now coolant transfer pipe was held on its place only by praying. After I moved it a bit major coolant leak appeared  >:( tomorrow I'm gonna give it a go but before starting the operation I would like to know if a double O ring swap was enough or I should get some extra glue, too?   ???

TIA

O rings only, you might get a away with it,or buy the transfer pipe with o rings as you may damage it getting it out. :y

Not being bolted to the block can potentially allow it to come adrift under pressure :-\

Inspect the stat housing while you're at it. Too much corrosion in there and it won't seal in a month of Sunday's.

Yep, you remember well, have done it without touching the bastard bolt, at the time it seemed possible didn't pay enough attention to the bolt  :-[  I haven't noticed the lack of bolt at all till yesterday. How didn't appear when I was doing that connecting the stat and transfer pipe was quite easy...?  :-\

The missing bolt probably made it alot easier ::)

Replace the bolt and all should be well :y corrosion not a real issue with the new thermostat casing as the transfer pipe plugs into it :y

Sorted out Al!  :y O rings changed, B bolt replaced, no leaking , possible radiator coolant pipe swap will be in the close future as it looks not too good condition.  :'( Thanks a lot , guys!  :)
