water leak
« on: 14 January 2014, 13:40:59 »

everything was "hunky dory", till we had a drop of rain, and I noticed the front passenger footwell  was wet, and it had creeped thru and soaked the rear one too. Its not rad water, as it does not smell at all of any antifreeze, but noticed a little lifting of the black rubber window seal, could this be the problem do you think???
Floor mats are dry now, but what is the best way to dry out the carpets, as it does seem to help mist up the windscreen with no air con on

Scuttle drain is blocked, needs clearing ASAP or will kill your fan controller  :y

Ideally remove the front seats to get the carpet out and hang it in the garage to dry thouroughly. Don't even think about turning the ignition on with the seats unplugged though :-\

You also need a new pollen filter :y

I've just had the same problem with a wet footwell on the passenger side. And sure enough after reading this thread my drain was blocked and quite a bit of water in there. So after a 10 seconds of putting in finger in the hole all the water drained out. And now just waiting for the carpets to dry. And need a new pollen filter lol, tho lucky the fan controller didn't die.

Love this forum  ;D

.... And now just waiting for the carpets to dry. ....

It'll be a while, especially at this time of year. There's loads of sound proof foam under the carpet that'll soak up gallons of water  :(

The only answer is to remove as much as possible and then put a fan heater in the car to dry the rest otherwise it wont dry and will begin to smell.Been there keep a regular check on scuttle drain.
