I had a paper round.  I lasted about 4 weeks.  Didn't like the walking, didn't like the stair climbing, didn't like the heavy bag, but most of all I didn't like the early mornings.

My son had a paper round for a few years - I tried to pay him to stop, because I thought he was being exploited - 50p a day for at least an  hour's work.  He carried on, though.  The only time I absolutely forbade him do the round was when we had a lot of snow and ice - I didn't think it would be safe on a push bike.

People had their papers delivered by Volvo 960 Estate that day :)

I started to do an evening paper round, and working behind a newsagents counter from the age of 12 (strictly speaking against the by-laws of that district then and definately against them now).  I then continued to be a paper girl doing morning rounds, then marking-up, and final also working behind the retail counter after school/ at holidays.

When I left school at 15 (without any paper qualifications) I went into permanent employment with the newsagents company I had been working for whilst still at school, and 28 years later left them after I had risen through the management structure to be a Divisional Manager responsible for 186 branches.  But I never did, and still have not now, stopped missing doing a paper round.  The early mornings are a lovely time to be out regardless of the weather! :y

I've always been rubbish at getting up, thats why I started my own business, now I stop work/go to bed at about 3am, get up at 10 (ish)!

Only a few hrs left!
