Maybe I'm out of touch.

I thought that cod and chips was about £1.50 these days. :'(

Why so expensive? Fish and chips is supposed to be cheap nutritious peasant food. :-\ :-\ :-\

Two small cod, 1 small chips, spam fritter, spring roll. £11 near us.

And the chips are in a box, which means they aren't steamed and hold some crispness by the time they are home. Ordering to eat now get wrapped in paper. :y

Do you order on the internet? ::)

You can still get fishcakes and fish patties for a quid or two, but the price of fish has gone through the roof.

Not sure about this - we will probably get treated to a review of the Wakefield Tripe House before we know where we are. You might have to price band it to sort the wheat from the chaff.
The weatherby whaler is a fine establishment for fish and chips in Wakefield. You'd be hard pushed to eat the 'whaler' as well, it's bleeding massive. I think that's about £8, just for the fish. I shall look on Friday when I go.

And don't call me junior  :P
£7.10, not too bad at all.

Morrison's In-Store cafeteria, fish, chips and peas (mushy or plain) for £4.55 - but not served after 4 PM.
Sometimes they have a drink included, and on rare occasions a half-price promotion!

The chippy at Potter Heigham Bridge is one of the best I have been to... proper chips. On the face of it a total shithole, the trout behind the counter leaves nothing to be desired, at all. Made the mistake once of trying to have a conversation with her ::)
Better off season than on, and never eat in the restaurant as they'll serve you oven fish and chips ;D

Best fish and chips was either from the chippy just south of the river in Brora, or from the chippy in Cobo on Guernsey  8)

Had a cracking Whale and chips on the front in" Winking Willy's" last summer, possibly the best fish I have ever tasted :y

Best fish suppers I've had we're in Oban and Wells Next The Sea. Expensive but worth it.
Sadly, fish n chips is a treat nowadays.
