When I heard this on the news I actually thought I'd mis-heard the amount.Sadly I obviously hadn't.That is an outstandingly obscene amount of money for anyone to get,let alone a football player. After all in the final analysis[and I'll be upsetting some footy fans here]it is just a game!!Nothing life changing is going to happen because of it.having said that,if offered the chance to be paid that much how many of us would say "No thanks I think that's too much,I'll take less"?

Perhaps if a good few more people did it, reality may sink in, but I doubt it.

I doubt it as well. What will happen is that Sky will put loss of customers down to competition from BT Sport and so throw even more cash at it. That's how they think.
watch it tunnie will be on your back ;D ;D

No, because 75,000 people pay year on year to watch him play every week.

Same with Messi, Ronaldo, Gerard, etc etc. NBA's Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Scotty Pippin. Golfs Tiger Woods, Rory Mclroy, Phil Mickelson. F1's Lewis Hamilton, Jensen  Button, Michael Schumacher god bless him.

Every single one worth more than you, me, and everyone here. Why? Everything is only ever worth what people will pay. Deal with it. ;)

The point that Golf is missing is that there are over 20,000 Starbuck in the world.

For every Starbucks there are 20,000. Man U  fans, so that's four hundred million people each paying 0.00075p each week to watch Rooney waggle his ears...

Even I would pay that to watch him do that  ;D

Capitalism is based on markets. Something is worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it. What is value for money to you, will be worth very little to somebody else. Roger Budden is case in point, there are very few people on here who will pay £4k for an Omega as they would rather spend £200-500 and fettle and fix it until it is at the standard they want, but there are people who will pay to get a low milage exceptionally good example, which needs no work done on it.

It is the same with work, this is a market as well and if you have an exceptional in demand skill then you can demand a lot of money for your services. I can't see many people on here turning down £300k a week for 5 years, so you are made for life, I certainly wouldn't if my particular skills were suddenly in demand. I say good luck to him and everybody else who can demand good money by working on developing their talent and skills, so they are well rewarded for using them.

Premiership football is a very good export earner for this country, so the more top stars we have in the UK, the more foreign earnings and investment they will attract, which we desperately need to help fix the UK's poor balance of payments, not to mention the extra tax helping to reduce the deficit and contribute to our public services. The people I begrudge paying money to support are lazy and breakless, those that are perfectly fit and able, but prefer not to work and expect us to keep them at a level of wealth and lifestyle many hard working poor people can only aspire to.

Without a broad earnings range from rich to poor all you have is poor people in a country and a privileged political elite as can be seen from all of the failed countries over the last 100 years with their failed communist and socialist experiments.
