Airbag light and non functioning heaters following seat swap. Anyone else hearing alarm bells?

They were the correct seats, weren't they?

got me thinking now  TB  . . .   said seats came from an 02  3.2 Elite that Albs broke   . . . but could they have been incorrectly transplanted into that car?

How do I tell which era they are ?
That`s your SRS light problem. Guess you plugged in the yellow flat rectangular plug under passenger seat

Yes Rob . . . but unplugged it again just after . Tech 2 to remove light  I think  . .  so taken bulb out as a temporary measure

how do I tell if they are  FL seats & not an earlier edition ? :-\

Front headrests should be marked "active"

Fuse #29 is a 30A. I`d be checking behind centre console at seat heater switch wiring first

Ok . . .   my car is 2001 2.6 MV6  & a 10A was fitted but blew when I switched on drivers side seat heater. Seats now
fitted came from an '02  3.2 Elite

Update  now is that put a 10A   back in  fuse 29 tonight . .   tried passenger side first & all ok  fuse not blowing & seat heaters working .

Then tried drivers side  .  .but switch seems stuck & won't revolve as normal to switch on  .  Could it be a dodgy switch

that caused this?

I  have a spare set of switches so could just  swapping that one  :-\ :-\

Can't see that anywhere on the front headrests Rob . Also just got the original MV6 cloth headrests out of shed & no "active" markings on them either. where exactly does it say it ?

Bugger . .  >:( >:(Have just chucked another  set of black leather FL seats over the tip last week , bet they were the active ones  :'( :'(

"Active" should be on the tubes that the headrests slide into

nope  . . . can't see that on the FL leather elites now fitted or the original MV6 cloth seats. Have pulled one of the original tubes out of the cloth  seat  . . . but can't see "active" anywhere on it  :-\ :-\ :-\

I can post up part number of original FL cloth tube if that helps

Also if  being "Active"  is it advisable not to pull the tube out of the leather seat to have a close look ?

OK  . . . think it is sorted now  ;)

Front seats fitted  in car now have a date tag of  12- 08 - 2000

Update to what I have done now :   changed drivers heated seat switch  . . still the same problem ,it blows the 10A fuse No.29 as soon as you switch it on .

with drivers heater off . . passenger side works fine

So have now disconnected the heater from drivers seat below the seat . this was a single connector with 2 wires 1 brown  & 1 black.

Passenger side still works fine & no fuses blowing  :) :)

Still no clearer as to what  fuse rating should be  10a   20a   or 30a   so going with a 10a

So will just leave it like this  ;)     presume it is the usual heater element fault  :-\

Thanks for all Oof  responses & help  :y :y :y :y

Al ;)

How easy is it to swap out the element/s?  You could prove the drivers seat wiring etc ok if you swapped the elements over

Was told it is not easy  . .  even more difficult on leather, and although I have a working set of cloth seats to take elements out of  . . . think I will just leave as is ;)

what is really  annoying is that I only just chucked away another set of Elite leathers last week . Although rears were water damaged from the shed  . . the fronts were good  :( :( :(

Thats typical  you don't need something until just after you throw it away    :)

Your fuse box shouldvbe colour coded... ie pull a thirty amp fuse and the centre of the space should have green paint on it and so on :y

Just to add, the active headrest gubbins is in the seat not the headrest, if you took the back cover off a fl seat and a mid fl one the extra mechanism is obvious :y
