Gillette razors

For those that use them...

Is it me, or are the newer Gillette fusion razors nowhere near as good as the sensor Excell derived Mach3 turbo ones. The three blades seems to give a closer smoother more comfortable shave IMO.

The five blades are harsh, bit more cumbersome, and don't shave as close. :(

I have always used Mach 3 and have never tried the 5 blade ones. Stick with what you know I say :y

The question you want to be asking is how many blades DO you need?

IMHO the answer is one GOOD one.

I gave up on cartridge razors like this a year or two ago and bought a quality double edge razor and blades, along with brush and good shaving soap.  I get a far better shave for a fraction of the price. I won't go back to the mass marketed stuff.

I like the mekur 34c razor
Astra / feather / Gillette 7 o'clock blades
Mitchell's wool fat soap

A cracking combination for me. If you go that route you can buy trial multipacks of blades to find what suits you.

Tried them, or something similar years ago. Ended in a bloody mess. Although back then, most razors did ;D

Disposable single razors where worse. Each to their own I guess.

3blade jobs seemed to give the best results, for me, and I've just stick with them ever since. They are bloody expensive though. No arguments there.

Agree. Disposables are a disaster. I think half the Key is in a good weighted handle that you let glide with its own weight. Wasn't cheap to get started but running costs are minimal.

Also found changing my morning habits helped get a good shave. Such as not shaving the minute I jump out of bed and showering before I shave rather than after. All helps

Precisely MrB. Although fusion knocks a day off that. Gets annoying earlier.
