Hi guys.

I got the engine, wiring and ecu from my old omega (3.0l v6 shell rotten) going to transplant into a newer shell. but the car I got is a 2.2 auto

question - used to have traction control new car doesn't, would I be able to get it back somehow.

Yes if you swap the following...

ALL the wiring from the 3.0
ABS Pump
TC switch

Will need to remove the dash from both cars along with the scuttle and pollen filter housing (only to make removing/refitting looms easier) :y

Without all the wiring from the dash to the engine bay/abs unit it's likely to be a non starter :-\

Im not convinced you will get it working regardless.

The ABS ECU needs to know the engine type its connected to, and talks to the Gearbox and Engine ECU's
There isnt an option to program it to a 2.2, so suspect it either wont work, or you will have a world of weird issues.

no point with TC on a 2.2

I had a 3.0l manual omega but was rotten at the crossmember at the front so stripped everything

got another car is a 2.2 auto and wanting to know if TC will work if I get a switch or will I need wires from switch to ecu or somewhere else

Do you have ALL the engine bay wiring, including the wiring from the ABS ecu to the engine ecu?

If not, get rummaging or pop a wanted ad in the test zone :y

Including both sides of both round plugs next to the battery and the loom from these/the engine ecu to the bulkhead?

If yes to the last item, then you might just get away with splicing to the same loom on your 2.2 with an extra bit of wiring to fit the TC switch and relevant dash loom :-\ the 2.2 might even have the dash wiring in place... pop out the blanking plate from between the alarm switch and the boot switch (saloon only) should be 3 terminals there. If there are, obtain a facelift TC switch and fit it. When you press it, engine running, if the TC light comes on below ABS lamp, then things might be easier :-\

What age was the 3.0?

Take it both cars are facelift then...

What the 2.2 won't have is the wiring from the dash to the engine bay/abs ecu...
