so it might have the wiring behind the switch but not to the dash? wish I had taken all the wires out now

You misunderstand... the wiring will likely be in the dash. What will be missing is the wiring from the dash to the ABS ecu. Basically there are two plugs at the lefthand front footwell. Some of the wiring runs to the back of the car, the rest goes to the engine bay ecus/fuse box etc.

There are four wires from the ABS ecu, three to the instrument cluster...
1. Speedo feed.
2. ABS lamp.
3. TC lamp.

And one wire, 4. to the TC switch.

Your 2.2 will have 1. and 2.

The wiring for 3 and 4 will be in the dash loom, but might not get as far as the plugs that connect the dash to the engine bay...

will get a switch and try it out if it doesn't work then I take it I will need a full dash loom?

Hence the light might not come on with the switch fitted. This is because the switch only connects to the abs ecu.
The abs ecu then puts the tc light on. Removing the switch blank will tell you if the switch wiring is present in the dash. There will be three contacts for the switch...

sorry for not catching on quick enough.

when I remove blanking plate there is three connections there have ordered a switch so unable to test

If memory serves some of the 4 pots only had a 3 channel ABS system, so a 4 channel ABS ECU with TC is going to be a challenging fit without changing the plumbing. Might be worth verifying the ABS block has 4 pairs of pipes into and out of the top plate?

I have the original abs pump from last omega. is that what you mean?

Does the 3.0 abs unit have the same number of pipes as the 2.2 unit?

Define easy...

As far as TC goes you're probably missing two wires running through the bulkhead

As for the engine to dash wiring...

You need all the wirirng that you don't currently have from the 3.0. For simplicity, from the same age and same model and same gearbox.

There will be other wiring differences between the two engines/dash. So could be easier to adapt the wiring inside the car to suit rather than fitting a whole new loom.

But for this to work, you need to know exactly what those differences are, and where they are in the loom...

so I would need to find another car same age, engine etc and check wires to see what wires I do and don't have?

would be easier living without TC
