Just had a look online and, as far as I can tell, the orlando is about 100 Kilos heavier than a Zafira.
Plus, we were three up and a dog and various bits in the back. Don't know if the published figures include a spare wheel and carrier, which are not standard, but I have fitted.

That shouldn't make a significant difference, especially as you have another 200 cc to play with. As already said, the Orlando may have overly long gearing to help with economy (but not steep hills)

Are you sure that it's not running on three cylinders?....... ::) ::) ::) ::) :)

It's surprising how much difference just 100kg's can make, my 2.2 is fine with just me in it, couple of passengers though and it's another story  :(

Both hold the claim to steepest hill at 1 in 3. What I like about Rosedale Chimney bank is it is just straight up. Not a lot of bends. Also it is less well known. I remember a motorist abandoning her car screaming as she ran off whilst attempting Hardnotts. I can see that road being one way one day.

When we go up Hardnott Pass, my wife loves it when a car comes the other way and you are right on the edge.......... not. I always make sure she is on the drop side so that she can admire the view. Isn't that thoughtful of me.  ;D ;D

I do hope so. It's only the prospect of meeting another nutter coming the other way that holds me back. 8)

Given the two engines are basicaly the same (with the 1.8 being a higher cc version but same block, head design etc, VVT, yada yada yada) it should be the same or better.....unless they screwed the gearing up and got the gap between second and third a bit long

That'll be the answer.....almost!

My guess is, the silly old duffer Steve was changing from 2nd to 5th in a 'senior' moment  ::) ;D ;D
