No guide afaik.

Remove doorcard (guide), bend the wire towards the door. Refit.

There should be a guide really, but when TB posts up the part numbers for the felt surround that does actually stop the plastic door pin rattling, I'll happily post up how to stop the metal rod rattling within the plastic pin itself. ;)

The felt bit only stopped it for a while, sadly, so not a recommended course of action IMHO. But I can post it up if required. Was around £3 for the complex bit with felt in, and £25 for the simple plastic clip that holds it in place!

Oh, er, which involves ;D levering out the red tab in the plastic door pin with a flat blade screw driver, if you don't want to take the door card off. Although this will mark the red plastic tab slightly. And applying some sort of sticky stuff to the metal rod, to keep it still.sticky stuff can be double sided tape, blue tack, impact adhesive or whatever you have.

There's two elements that can rattle.

Without removing door card...
The metal rod in the plastic pin. (Remove red tab, apply sticky stuff)

The plastic pin in the plastic door surround in the door card. (Apply insulation tape, which didn't work for me)

But to do it properly

Remove door card.
The metal rod rattling in the plastic pin.
Unscrew plastic pin from metal rod, remove red tab without damage. Apply sticky stuff.

The plastic pin rattling in the plastic door surround in the door card.
Remove plastic surround in door card by pulling the collar off the back. Replace felt. Re fit.

For good measure, but not really necessary of doing both options above, bend the metal rod the plastic pin sits on so the top of the plastic pin leans back towards the window. It then sits at an angle and takes any play out of the surround and on the metal rod.

Take your pick. :)

I think, your think it didn't work because the metal pin/rod the plastic door pin sits on, is rattling inside the plastic pin.

I think.

Its most certainly the case in mine. Presuming yours as well.

...as above. :)

Good to know there's plenty of options available  :y

I'm pretty sure all x4 are rattling to some extent. Saying that both front ones seem to be worse especially on rough road surface, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing what they sound like on a cobbled road  :o ;D

By the way mine on the Elite are the square shaped pins, The ones on the GLS 2.2 are also square but they don't rattle at all oddly enough. Both cars are pretty much the same age 2002..

I used cheap self sticking draught excluder foam (cos I had some) cut and wrapped around the inside of the lock pin hole, works great and been some months now but you do have to take the door card of to do it which to be honest is pretty easy once you have done one. Definitely  worth the effort.

My pre face lift never ever rattled and this replacement facelift drove me nuts once you got on some poorly surfaced road (which there are lots of around here).

Also, be aware, removing the door card can sometimes mean the plastic strip that clips along the top of the card can come adrift.

I suppose try to resolve without removal first perhaps? But whatever works.

Thanks, could be. 3 of mine have been resolved with bending rod. OSR started rattling after the big bang again (cant see how related), cant remember if I ever bent that one. Will look closer in the summer :y

See how these get on, Tidy enough don't notice them really.

Just a small video showing them working with the central locking http://youtu.be/pUv0jedNxrc

If these don't work i'll explore one of the many options above  :y
