Cam Covers
« on: 14 September 2014, 01:57:21 »

At last cam covers done today.  Gaskets and o-rings were brittle, with 5 of the 6 plug wells full of oil - suprised car was running ok with no misfires!!

Drivers bank fitted with Payen gasket set from allgermanparts and gm o-rings, and passenger bank fitted with a gm gasket set and gm o-rings.  As stated before the Payen set feels as supple and pliable as the gm set, and the fit to the cam cover was same for both types.

Time will tell!! - will update Payen performance vs gm as mileage increases ;)

Plug wells cleaned out, coil packs cleaned up, and new plugs fitted - still got a smoke screen when started up, but cleared reasonably quickly.

Excellent  :y Ive done 1000 miles so far on non genuine cc gaskets , they were very supple unlike any bought before . Used a different method of fitment  ;) Parts were £16 for a full set .

Dbug has said previously that he will test these on the drivers side on behalf of forum to see if they are any good.

Yup,keep us updated dbug :y

Worth checking plug wells on a monthly basis, and also around the outside edge and the back (by the half moons).

Thanks :y

No probs - cars done 250 miles today - no issues with oil loss (although never had to top up oil in past, even with the leaking gaskets!!) and plug wells still clean. :y

Yes - sit just under cam cover where the bolts go through

Ok, thanks for that. Had thought it would just be the gasket to swap. Shall check mine when I do the pollen filter.

Payen used to be a quality product thought they had gone the same way as Quinton Hazel.  :-\
