Tax Disc - Public Ignorance?
« on: 03 October 2014, 17:11:56 »

Three days in now from the big tax disc change.

Driving around today I was checking every vehicle that I passed to note whether or not a disc was displayed.  It was amazing to see that 99.9% of vehicles, including Post Office vans, were still displaying those things from the past. :o :o :o :o

I myself could not wait to rid my screen of that offending object.  Does not the rest of the public feel the same way, or are so many still confused or completely ignorant of the new regulations? ??? ???

Is this typical of British Joe Public? ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

Mine is staying where it is until I have time to properly remove it with solvent to remove the residue, it will annoy me partially removed.

The omega still runs with an official OOF tax disk holder, that may have to stay for posterity.

SNAP, Then again it was you who confirmed we could remove them on 1 October rather than wait until they ran out when I asked the question ages ago. :y :y :y
When I removed mine on Tuesday there were the seven discs since I've had the car. :y

That is true Cleggy!! :y :y :y  Perhaps the Gov should have left me to transmit the new rules to the whole country.  I'd have done a better job of it! ;D ;D ;)

I wished I had kept my original tax disc with an expiry date of Nov 1971, but hindsight is a great thing! ::) ::) ::) ;)

I'm surprised that a lady with such an interest in history is so keen to usher in the end of an era. ::) ::) ;)

Think of all those lovely old tax discs so proudly displayed in cars that were made in the thirties, forties and fifties.

I always look for continuity errors when watching period drama. How sad is that?..... ;D ;D ;D :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Mine was never displayed correctly. It's upside down, in the upper tinted area of the screen, with half the details accidentally folded over , so it's as difficult as possible to read.

Now we're in October I feel a strange need to put it the right way up, unfold it, and place it, nice and visible, in the lower left corner of the screen. :)

Even more sad than my enormous collection of car registration numbers I amassed in the 1960's..... ;D ;D ;D
