TBH it's a weekends job when you know what to do, so consider doing it yourself :y  Six hours to take old engine out and rest to fit new one :)

I am sure there will be folk on here who say they can whip an omega engine out and new one in in around ten minutes  ::) but I've done most jobs on the omega now and it would still take me ages and I would guess it's not a job fir anyone who is not experienced.

I am sure someone will offer their services in no time  :y

I personally would run a mile from a job like that, I saw all the work that was required just to change a Nova 1.0 engine :(.... both very similar, well the names the same ;D

 ;D

When my pistons shook hands with my valves the biggest job I'd done on the omega was cam belt. Accompanied by an excellent DVD. And even with that I still managed to ruin the car  ;D

The subsequent rebuild took me about two months. A lot of that was to do with sourcing heads, saving my pocket money for parts, being at full time work etc etc.

Now if someone delivered all the parts I needed on day one, I'd prob have that same job done in three days if  I really cracked on, didn't run in to any issues and had no distractions. Slow yes but part of the enjoyment is doing this job, right?

Note that the first time round I had a shed load of help from 4x4 and I wouldn't have got it done without him. Eternally grateful!  :y

I haven't done single timing belt or HG nor anything bigger to engine, EVER and still managed to swap my engine :D  Mostly thanks to OOF and OCF and maaaaany hours of studying the v6 build before starting the job :y  I just took it as a "hobby" thing and quite enjoyed doing it. And oh the pride when the engine ran for the first time, tho a days delay there because some idiot left crank sensor unplugged  ::)

Comment wasn't aimed at anyone mate, sorry if it seemed like that  :y

Yep, when it runs again nicely it's very satisfying. Best thing that helped me was soaking followers in oil for a night  :y

Just talking of my own "experience" when it comes to swapping engines so no offense taken :) And lucky you for doing that, my engine sounds occasionally like a damn 80's diesel ::D

Not wanting to tempt fate but mine too sometimes  so perhaps me stripping the b bolt thread and having to rebuild it may be a good thing  :-\ :o ;D
