what other VX steel wheels ?
« on: 10 December 2014, 14:32:22 »

hi all
I need to get another 2 steel wheels with tyres to temporarily  put on my project  omega ,

So will go to local breakers at the weekend  to find 2. They are just to keep the car mobile on the driveway while I refurb the alloys from the project omega.

Will 5 stud vectra wheels fit or any other model or even make ?

As said , just to keep car on 4 wheels  &  moveable . .  it won't be going anywhere near the road  ;)

TIA for any advice greatly recieved   :y :y

Any normal Vauxhall 5-stud car wheels are interchangeable. Offset is another issue, but the PCD is the same.

Note: This excludes Vivaro vans, Royales/Monzas/Mk 1 Sennys and VX220s and Monaro/VXR8, but I'm not counting these as 'normal' as you don't normally find these kicking around in your average scrapyard  :).

Not quite, the rebadged Korean and Japanese stuff varies and the newer cars have a pcd of either 115mm or 120mm, and Astraas are 50/50 for 4 or 5 stud ;D

I was giving the original poster the credit of intelligence that he'd be able to count the number of holes in a steel wheel.  :y

Also sincere apologies, yes the Insignia and latest Astra are now 'upped' to 115, not 5 x110. I was not aware of this. OP mentioned touring round his local scrappys looking for wheels, you must have more of these in your scrapyards round your way than we do.  :)

OP may find this useful

IIRC the Vec C runs from 2003 to 2014 then the Insignia started...

Vec C steelies will fit no problem, Im actually after a set to use as winter wheels...

Vectra B wheels do fit also but might need spacers...

Yup, lots of different offsets to consider, but that's either sit down and work out how offsets work, and the mm you'll be moving the wheels in or out by -  or just fit them and see how it handles. Theres lots of talk about 'oooh, what if I go from 225 to 215 tyres.. will I skid off into a ditch and kill my family etc...' and to be honest, tyre width / offset etc isn't something you're going to notice in normal driving on the roads.

I'm not saying the offsets / track etc wasnt picked by specialist engineers, because it was, and it does affect handling, but as does a full tank of fuel, unevenly distributed load in the boot; but as I say, how much you're noticing this on roads, for me, I'd say not a lot. I'm on three 16s and one 15, with different sidewall profiles and width, and can't tell.

He'd obviously only need to say he'd fitted his spare & was on his way to ATS  ;)

:y Yup, got the matching alloy in the boot spare wheel well - I've got a good tyre in the back yard, only my friendly tyre changer bloke is currently in Thailand (thigh-land) at present!  :)

As the OP only requires the wheels to keep his chassis off the drive whilst the wheels are refurbished, none of the above applies :y

If it weren't the case I would have been at the front of the queue to explain how and why his actions were retarded ::)

And for reference the Insignia was launched in early 2009, not 2014 ;D

True, sir, but if I hadn't mentioned that different offsets do affect handling, someone would have mentioned it  :y :y so thought it better to be comprehensive  :)
