Always had a liking for largish estates, had a CX estate then an XM estate, Merc 230TE estate plus diversions via VW camper and a Berlingo.

The Omega is a lot of car for the money (space and toys), much more luggage space than Volvos etc, just took a while to track down a latish diesel estate.

Fingers crossed it's going well a year or so on, ticked all the boxes I wanted, just hope all the toys keep working!!

My Nan got a new MK2 cavalier every year up till the MK3 which she was not keen on so she kept her last MK2 which was a SRI 130 and i loved that car (i was only 11 when she got it) but then she got the first 2.0 16V calibra that come in to the vauxhall garage and had that for 9 yeras so when a come of age i then had to have a vauxhall and it had to be a MK2 cavalier (17 MK2's in total) and if i could find a SRI 130 saloon in black or grey i would have it and never sell it.
My Dad had the ford granada (never a fan) but in 97 i made him buy a 95 omega 2.5 diesel CD estate in dark green and he has never looked back (on his 5th now) and due to this i now have them.
The omega is one of the best cars on the road i think its safe to say. :)

i was on the lookout for a new motor and i'd had an 02-plate omega for a while as a company runaround. it had 600 on the clock when i got it and i racked up so many miles in it, just remember it being so comfortable to drive and sit in (i was out on the road a lot).

i was looking at big motors like xj6, 5 series etc and when looking on auto trader at the price check thing it said 'like these cars? then try these'. it suggested an omega.

i remembered the 02 omega i had and then saw i could get an omega for a third of the price of a 5 series, with more toys and a bigger cabin. it was a no brainer. i went looking for one straight away.

after a while of searching, coming across real bad examples and waaay overpriced examples, i found the mothership on auto trader. low mileage 3.0 v6 elite, well looked after, i fell in love with it instantly and have never looked back.

that was over 4 years ago and i've loved every minute of owning this car ever since. now on 149k and still running like an absolute dream (although a lot of maintenance has taken place recently to ensure that's still the case!!)

without doubt the best car i've ever owned. i would happily recommend an elite to anyone. i plan on driving mine for many many more years to come.

I had my Honda VTI for five years ( still in garage) and i needed a van. Looked round for one and realised i could have the best of both worlds by buying an estate. Remembered back to my days of Cavaliers and my beloved Carlton and decided to look around for an Omega Estate. Nearly bought a W reg 2.5CDX estate from a dealer near Sandhurst but, despite leaving messages on his answer phone, i couldn't get clarification about what had been done during the "service history", so saw my Elite advertised at another dealer in Eaton Socon for £1900. Year newer X reg, service history,£1200 spent on it previous July ( receipts checked with garage) and £900 cheaper that CDX. Bit of a no brainer really so bought it. Love the car. Few jobs to do on it when i get the cash.  :)

I bought my first Omega as a progression from the two Carltons that I had, first one was 1990 2.0CDi, then upgraded to a 1992 2.6CDX, which was ultra comfortable.  Thought about upgrading to an earlier Omega (pre-1999), but an immaculate facelift one (2000 X plate) came up that was too good to miss!!.  I had that for almost 3 years until this April, it has now been replaced with a 2001 3.2 Elite.  Still waiting to load photos of it btw!

My Novavan failed its MOT on the basis that there was not much meat left in the front bodywork. (since been repaired and handed to my bro)

Needed a motor and was going to be lugging stuff about and towing - the Mig came up for sale opposite my house (belonged to my cousin)

Bargain!

Not looked back since, found OOF last year and have had cheap motoring since.

Thanks OOF  :y

was looking for a replacement for my departed senator so having always had a bit of a vx fetish (glutton for punishment ;D )the omega was the obvious choice.i found a black 3 litre elite but mrs bitz threw a wobbly and said it looked like a funeral car ,so i ended up buying a green 2.5cd,which she has moaned about ever since. ::)

Had a Granada that was on its last legs and was looking for a new car.
went to a showroom and saw a second hand elite and was advised that they had to sort the aircon out on it but i could test drive it.
enjoyed the ride they said it would be sorted by the weekend and went to in on the weekend to buy it and was told it had been sold 2 hours earlier.
but that got me the taste and started looing around for another but nothing was forth coming until a mate said he had spotted one for sale on his way into work.
took a spin at lunchtime with him and everything looked good gave the guy a ring and been a happy miggy owner since last year.

My dad had a P reg 2.0 CDX as a company car and I loved it to bits.  In order to get to the Omega I had to go through a Y reg Cavalier, a G reg Cavalier and then a K reg Granada.

At the point I knew I wanted a 3.0 Elite 'cos I must have toys.  I seem to remember I went to a specialist, can't remember where, but ended up buying it from a place in Croydon back in early 2002 for over £10k.

Back then I was living at home and the Bank of Mum and Nan sorted me out - no mortgage then.

Have owned it since then, lived with it breaking down on me when I was in the New Forest, and put 50k miles on it.

Drives much better than the Cavaliers and Granada and has never needed topping up with oil.

Dad gave me a mondeo which was on its last legs, and the bloke who worked next door to me got an omega from Dk in Thatcham. OOH THAT LL DO, I thought, 180od horses massive boot drop down seats v6 smooth and loads of toys and comfort with all important centre arm rest, test drove a 99 cdx and loved it, was a bit worried by vague stearing and fuel economy but michledever sorted the steering and i promised myself an lpg conv. But then i thought wont bother with lpg i wont have the car long enough to get the money back, so i left it.

5 and a half years later i now have 3.2 elite and love it, zenons, parking sensors, colour sat nav, heated seats 4 cd changer built in phone, memory leather seats and diming mirror, sunroof AND electronic dual zone climate control and and and the list goes on, looks better drives better, drive by wire throttle, no egr, dis pack or hbv. Now just got to sort lpg...

Oh and most important of all a top forum that gives more back up than any dealer could dream of. Thanks to all.

My mom bought her '03 Omega in 2004 and I had been in it loads of times and driven it a few times and really liked it. Decided I could buy a lot of car for not much money at all compared to 5 series Bmw's etc.

Always liked big vauxhalls started with a 3.3 ventora but that was a while ago now. When my senator finally fell to bits the elite just seemed a natural progression. That was six years ago and counting.  :y

I must admit... In considering a mig I did do a bit of research into them. Thats when I discovered OOF.... as a visitor loitering in the wings  ::) Well.... After coming here how could I not get one!!! What with Lizze and her 130mph tales and the talk of such love it was done and dusted!  ;) ;) And long may it continue!!!!!!!  :y

After having a string of brand new 2.0 GL & CD Carlton's, I progressed onto my own 3.0ltr CD Senator which I held onto for some time until the dreaded rear wheel rot set in :'( :'( :'(.  I spoke to my Vx dealer and did a good px deal on a 3 year old 3.0ltr Elite in Black, leather interior, etc, etc.. Loved it (but missing my Senny), but then had to find some cash and sold it 4 years later, and "temporarily" bought a banger, that then did 90k with me, until I px at 250k in a good deal on my current miggy.

Wanted the speed, comfort, reliabilty, of a big six cylinder Vx again, and I am again not disappointed! :y :y

Bought the miggy because i wanted a "normal car" to do my work mileage in.... rather than our family MPV....

and the bastards at VX stopped making senators...  which had previously been my "car of choice" for about 15 years. (5 of them....  )

needless to say, I wasn't going to buy anything less than a 3.0 ....  and subsequently, 2 nice black elite estates have come my way... and been very much loved.....      the current V reg one is a glorious thing...

I will have to replace it at some point....    and I'm not so enamoured of the facelift models.,..   the interior sucks in comparison... and bits of the exterior make it look a tad "pregnant" ......

but I may learn to live with it....     coz the other choices are a bit limited....a 530 BMW touring....    is currently top of the alternatives list....

I'm just going to have to grin and bear the fuel prices and road tax hikes....
