You certainly chose an 'interesting' week to be in Paris rather than Lyon :-\

Been in both this week.  Lyon was hit too but with repraisal attacks >:(

We are tolerant, they are not. That is the danger.  >:(
What is the solution? Clearly crusades/shooting people/ousting regimes and trying to force democracy don't work...

If the Christian church were stronger/more forward thinking then perhaps Islam wouldn't be the fastest growing religion amongst western populations.

Perhaps all religion could be outlawed? Or perhaps all faiths combined to form a global, all encompassing church :-\

People can be of faith regardless of their situation, does religion have to have labels :-\

Regret I dont think there is a solution.  :(

Yes, and more 'calls for de-facto monitoring of all communications and the introduction of a "Patriot Act" style thing'

You have that half right about the Christian church: it is already forward thinking, but weak. I know that is a risky generalisation, but I have another - Islam's moral certainty and inability to compromise is its strength and a large part of its appeal.

There isn't a reliable, effective answer to this, let alone a palatable one. The American approach of Patriot Act and Homeland Security is more for political effect than actual use.

If you look through history, many Christians were far more barbaric than todays Islamic extremists especially toward Pagans.

So, as a Christian society....we're tolerant?

That was then, this is now  :(
No point the world getting into a pissing competition over who's religion was the biggest idiot hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
Imo, its called evolution and attitudes have changed as we evolve.

Running around with a AK47 wasting anybody who you think may disagree with you or sending a young child complete with explosive vest into a group of people stood minding there own business and blowing them all to atoms is not justified in any religion regardless of what went on years ago.
To that, you can add grooming non Muslim minors for sex or female genital mutilation to the pot.

These oppsers do not give a toss about anything other then there twisted beliefs.
Its there way or die, its as simple as that  >:( >:(

And you can't say its just "the west" that's the enemy in there eyes, what the opps did the island of Bali do to them ??

All over now. At least another Four families will have an empty place at the table from now on  :'(
Everbody loses in this kind of situation, as there is no negotiating with someone who thinks they will be magically transported to 'Paradise' the second they have been 'Martyred' >:( :'(
