Tolerant lot aren't you  >:(

When motorists have to lose their freedom e.g. Have to use driverless car or car is controlled by GPS people will hark back to these days and realise a bit of live and let live wouldn't go

Meanwhile what about horses and runners and people walking, oh and tractors crawling along..? Shouldn't be allowed Mavis

Usual anti cyclist rants. Nothing to see here. <terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired!> ::)

So, we want the government to impose testing, licensing, number plates, insurance and excise duty on a zero emissions, healthy option method of transport they have been trying to promote for years, in the run up to an election. Good luck with that one. Actually, give mr. Farage a call. You never know. :D

Not after I've ridden my bike and refueled, their isn't. :o :o :o

They should ban all cars as they are unnecessary for the majority of people who can get around perfectly well by walking, cycling and using public transport. :P :P :P This would leave the roads clear for commercial vehicles, so they can get from A to B much quicker and millions of cyclists of course.  :P :P :P

You mean like when someone makes a rule saying we can only fit manufacturers OE wheels to our cars? ;)

I cycle to work quite often, if more people did it then there would be less traffic on the roads - and people would be fitter/healthier

I do think though there are some idiot cyclists out there - the number that ignore traffic lights, road markings, pretty much everything - or have no lights, or almost even worse have blindingly bright badly adjusted flashing lights.

Not sure how you enforce licencing/insurance etc for bikes though...

A good option would be make road tax for motorcycles free, why should road tax be £80 a year for a 600cc+ yet some cars are free? That might encourage more people to ride, and also reduce traffic.

You have too much time on your hands Steve, do us a favor and go and watch Emmerdale.............. :y :y ;)
No. If you watch too much telly you start using American spellings. Like favor instead of favour.

 :y ;D

PS I agree about cyclists.....you always see on utube or whatever how the cyclist with the headcam got cut up by a car.....but never see the clip when the cyclist jumped a red light....strange  ::)

look up the youtube channel sillycyclists which is run by........drumroll.......a cyclist!

Much like a Forklift license.  Prove you can safely drive the thing, and you get a ticket.

No such thing, these is only a certificate of competency (and in my experience, those with the likes of the J cert are often worse than those who have been suitably trained and don't have it!)  :y

Furthermore, the Cert is acceptable to almost no where these days.

I love it when sh!t like this gets posted on a car forum.  It shows people's various level of intelligence.

  • Car tax - abolished in 1948.  Replaced with VED.  Revenue from VED goes in to the central money pot along with income tax, etc.  Road maintenance is funded from central govt, only a small amount of money raised from road traffic actually gets spent on road maintenance.
  • VED is based on emissions, a cyclist is carbon friendly.  Note: An electric car pays no VED.
  • Most cyclists are insured to a similar level as a car driver through their home insurance.  Those in clubs and associations are often insured many times over by virtue of their membership.
  • Many cyclists pay a large amount of tax (income, VAT, etc) more than enough to pay their meagre share or road repair.

And if you dont believe that......

  • Most cyclists also have a car (sometimes 2!)

So please, lets have a reasoned debate about the subject rather than all this childish and frankly dangerous mud-slinging.  The fact that someone slows you down, or runs through a red light is no reason to do them harm.  Those who break the law should be punished, yes, but by the police.  Indeed I lay the blame for today's lack of tolerance for cyclists squarely at their feet for failing to do their job and punish those cyclists who f#0% around.

Oh and shall we extend the logic of killing those motorists who slow me down when I am cycling?  I overtook 1 tractor and 2 cars who were doing less than 30mph the other day.

Shall we line them up and beat the to death with our bike locks? ::)

Shooting them would be less messy :P

It is a fair point you make though... and one which applies to most activities :y

White? Only policemen and taxi drivers drive a white vehicle. Surely no one would do it by choice  :-\ :-\
