Omega 2.2 petrol 2003 manual possible engine temp problem
« on: 29 January 2015, 10:34:50 »

In winter or summer time with the air-con on, should the engine temp stay fairly stable around 85 - 92, if the car is idling or doing 70mph?

As soon as I go down the motorway the temp drops from around 92 to around 65 depending on outside temp and speed.

I have noticed that all the rad fans are on when using air-con. No matter if its winter or summer. Is this normal?

Thanks

air con on the fans run continually .. totally normal.

Temp dropping at speed .. does it take a long time to warm up as well ?? If so .. thermostat stuck open .. needs a new thermostat

Yes it takes a while to warm up.

Do you know if the thermostat is separate or an all in one part with the housing?

Eurocarparts is showing both.

Thanks

Ideally yes, but a thin streak of instant gasket around the original seal will do just as well if it isn't broken :y

The 2.2 stat is piss easy to change, and even dealer gasket is cheapish. From memory, dealer price for stat is a steep £25 though :(

Don't forget to add coolant to the budget as well

Anyone know what the torque settings are for the bolts?

Is it best to replace from dealer or will any do the same job?

Thanks
