Ok. I get it.

God is attacked and insulted, then so is my Christian beliefs when I defend God. No one else is prepared to it seems on this Forum so , yet again, but finally, I have decided I do not belong here. My principles are firm on this.

Goodbye to you all and, as I bear no malice, God bless you in whatever you choose for your future.

Love. Lizzie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't think anyone is 'attacking' your beliefs, just vigorously arguing against the existence of God. I believe you are perfectly entitled to defend your position, indeed I envy your unquestioning faith, as  it clearly gives you much comfort. Unfortunately I, and many others, don't share that belief, and you have not offered any hard evidence to convince us.
I am very sorry that this should drive you from the forum, surely one of the fundamentals of the Christian Faith is forgiveness, which you should be able to embrace. :y

I agree. I don't think anyone attacked Lizzie personally, although I did take umbrage at being told I had no moral compass. I started this thread because I was outraged at the thought of animals being slaughtered inhumanely in the name of religion, I cannot/will not take responsibility for those who took that as an attack on their beliefs.
Rigorous defence of an opinion, Lizzie, attracts rigorous attack, and, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I have said all I personally need to on this subject which, like politics, will draw many varying levels of reply. I will now only add my final piece:

What you all believe is up to you, but I know what I believe for many good reasons, and my reasons are no more illogical or irrational from any other, and with my many, many, experiences including one, shared with my mother at the same time, of feeling absolute evil from an unworldly source that is not explainable. Irrational? No, it falls within the belief of the Holy Trinity and the forces of the devil. Medieval nonsense? No, as they ARE very much alive to us in the 21st century, if you are prepared to open up your eyes and hearts to real Christian, or other, faiths.

But take this argument from a different viewpoint for a moment. Let's remove God, Christianity, and all other faiths from the equation.  Let's have a world without a moral compass, where there is no understanding of right or wrong, good or evil.  A world where almost everyone believes this life is our only chance for enjoying all around us (The Garden of Eden moment; and no, this is pure symbolism as most of the Old Testament is and Darwin was right but in man's timescale, not God's "7 Days" which to God is billions of years) and so go for it. As we will not suffer from anything we do, but instead will enjoy all pleasures available, by stealing, cheating, murdering, et all, why not? We will end up dead anyway so let's make the most of what we have now, now, now!

The world, as I stated, has no moral compass, no understanding, or least a will to live with a right or wrong lifestyle.  Anarchy will rule, everyone out for themselves.................................hang on, this all sounds growingly familiar.  But now the breaking of a wing mirror, keying of your car, the beating up and rape of an 82 year old neighbour becomes common place. But God does not exist; the morality contained within the current faiths does not apply, and we will all die a final., unending death were blackness as our future, so who cares?

So, believe what you like but think hard about a society where God does not extend that inner love; a feeling of good or evil and a promise of everlasting life, as he does not exist.

Is this what you want for the future?

Not another one..................... ::) ::) ::) :(

Not looked in on this thread for however many days and really saddened to see the upset it has caused  :(

I suppose any thread debating the existence of God, or the way that people use the idea of a deity was never going to end well. Disagreement and upset were always going to follow. I wilfully apologise for any part my comments attributed, but add that just like the Python Boys found with Life of Brian that it is the idea of following ideals/rules without reasoning, or evidence to back those ideals/rules up that I and others take exception to, not religion per se.

Sincerely, If you wish to believe in anything, that is your right, and no matter the Faith, I would gladly defend that right. I think it safe to say all on here have issue with the extremity and passion that those beliefs can be fought, and how a 'culture' or 'tradition' can do things to 'lesser' beings in the name of that said religion. I think because Science is in the Head, and Religion is in the Heart, that any Theological debate suddenly becomes personal to those of Faith, more so than those from the Agnostic/Atheistic viewpoint. It's hard to imagine such a debate occurring about something you choose with your Head - like a gas supplier; whereupon a friend then insists your gas supplier is incorrect, and theirs is in fact the one true supplier of utilities.

I hope all can go in peace, and know that no personal upset was intended, it's a debate aimed at a system where misinterpretation and corruption of the words of others is open, not aimed at a specific Faith, and certainly not a specific follower any one particular Faith.  :(

Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works but hey... Let's just lob a grenade and run! ::)

Most of these "barbaric" faiths, for want of a better word, are now a similar age to that of Christianity during the Crusades... Just sayin' :-X ::)
