left side bagpipe coated in oil?

hi just been out and noticed that left side bagpipe believe air intake from plenum coated in what looks like oil any ideas folks?

Left side as in Near Side?, first check for me would be Dip Stick / holder all ok, followed and Cam Covers, others wise is it oil? Power Steering fiuld?

me getting mixed up right side then was left when facing anyway took off checked for split etc nothing apparent let run for a bit nothing else going to vx dealers so give it run and check when there thanks

Best thing is to get the engine as clean of oil/muck as possible, then look again after a run, see if that shows anything up. Let us know how you get on. Strange the oil should be that far forward?

I recently had an alternator fail and my bagpipes had a coating of what looked like oil but I dont think it was oil, something from the alternator burnt varnish? New alternator and no deposit on bagpipes.

just took for run be it only 5 miles but dry, will keep a eye on in meantime thanks :y

Had exactly the same on our 2.6 - no signs of leakage on the bagpipe to plenum connector.  Changed it for another one - clean ever since.
