That may well have been true then but those posts were posted 6 years ago, an absolute age in tech time lines.

Things have moved on somewhat since then and costs dropped considerably. Now we have Bluetooth devices etc that whilst may not reset everything/anything may read most of it to give a heads up on where to look first.

They are still OBD devices, and so don't work on Omegas, in the same way that older corded ones don't. I have both, and neither work on my car.

I thought ODB 2 was mandatory from 2001 for petrol's and 2003 for diesels. Which would probably means both yours and mine are to early. The wife's Golf is 2002 diesel and works fine with Vgate scanners but I have not tried one on mine as I have not bothered borrowing it.

I am just testing the waters for future events, and I know there will be a time!!

It never hurts to put feelers out and see what comes back, which is usually not a lot for the Dti.

Which are later than the 2001 requirement for OBD compliance. Lots of earlier cars are compliant, but Omegas aren't.

This one works very well on all omega's and is used by quite a few long term members on here  :y

Pm incoming so as not to upset admin  ;D
I'd be interested in knowning which one would work with my early 2001 3.0.
