Got my renewal letter from LV this morning, £270 laxt year, £411 this year. Had a quick look on the internet, then rang LV.

"Hello sir, how can I help?"
"I got my renewal this morning, it seems a bit high"
"Let me have a look sir. Ah..you changed your address in October, that's why it's higher".
"I see. I can get the same level of insurance from Aviva for £276".
"We couldn't match that price sir".
"I'll go with Aviva then, shall I?".
"We can't match their price sir".
"OK. I'll probably speak to you next year when I'm a new customer again".
"Look forward to it sir".
"Bye".
"Bye".

At least I shall be spared that rigmarole this year as in June/July I'll be putting the Omega up for sale-the Jaguar is being advertised now as spares or repairs as it's not turned a wheel in over a year-and I don't use the Omega enough to justify tax/insurance etc costs,so that will be going before insurance due for renewal in August.

All these figures need to be put in context - do the prices include protected no claims, legal expenses, level of excess, courtesy car, eu cover etc. A £500 excess will mean you get nothing as an Omega owner.

For old farts I actually for first time got best deal from Saga on the Phaeton. Swinton best for Astra and Insignia as they have 5 drivers.
