Sadly i couldn't attend this one. The first one was great, only marred by being accused of making some one else's noise which she did apologise for later. Seems she failed her O level Commerce given that it could've been an annual earner for her, but given her attitude to paying customers & the lack of an allocated field which was promised maybe it's best to source a friendlier site next year.
Otherwise i hope you all had a great time.

Chopsdad has a plan, and it doesn't involve Burns Farm.

May even be chance of a 'out of season' Lakes meet that does not involve tents  :-X
That sounds good.

That sounds very good!! I will await with eager anticipation  ;) ;)

So having looked at the pictures of this place and location im absolultly convinced we stayed at this site years ago (like 4 or 5) when we had a caravan and a mondeo....

Anyways just to proove me right or wrong, the showers were acros the country lane from the field??

If im right then the silly woman in charge 'misplaced' our booking (we were touring the lakes so booked from a site at coniston) and we had to make very much moaning to stay...

Also the electreic hookups kept fusing :@

Or i could be totally wrong. But never mind

I get the impression from the link that Martin I posted, that the toilet block on that we used was new, & there just used to be a toilet block across the road.

I believe they have built a new shower block on the same side as the field now but yes the electric hookups were somewhat temperamental which I believe was explained as some camper having faulty equipment plugged into the supply.

Okay it sounds the same place.... down the country road at the end i think there is a car museum or some kind?

Also one lil bit of advice for any caravaners from when we went, there is this brilliant CL caravan site near Coniston, forget the name of the village. ITs really small, few facilities but by a brilliant pub.

Para-phrasing Groucho Marx: "I wouldn`t want to stay on any campsite that would have me as a camper" ;D

....Must`ve been a hell of a good weekend for you all to get banned; I REALLY wish I`d gone to Keswick now! [smiley=cheesy.gif]

Only stayed at one site I would not go back to (noisy) and that was at Bream.

Others I have been to though, too expensive, or don't like the nearby area but only one bad site

Anyways just to proove me right or wrong, the showers were across the country lane from the field??

You are spot on!  The old shower block was across the road and the electric tripped out 4 times in Jimbob's tent yesterday.

The original plan agreed with myself and Linda was to use the "rally" field for the tents and throw a few lines over the wall from the caravans.  But according to "daughter", lets call her Miss Happy for ease, because we had so many people needing electric she had to split us all up, and some people even had the cheek to phone up this week and ask if they could connect up if at all possible!

So instead of simply saying "Sorry, all gone" she greedily squeezed in as many paying customers as possible and then moaned about it all weekend.

The only valid issue she had was that one chancer from here blagged a £5 per night special site booking fee, and then set up camp with slightly more than a "small tent" by claiming it was all pre-arranged.  That's fine if you're on your own, but it did cause problems for other group members and started the non existent "problems" because it really got her back up.

We were never officially banned, but when I told her we would not be coming back again, she as much as said that we weren't welcome anyway!

But basically, mother is nuts and daughter didn't fall far from the tree and we were not made to feel valued or even welcome.

Thanks to everyone that turned up and for the on hand helpers and I guarantee that next year will be an "upgrade" on 2008.

Still enjoyed myself though and it did unite us all..... OOF forever! :y

Still enjoyed the week end Mark & thanks for organising it in the first place. It did as you say unite us all especially at last nights barbeque.
Thanks to Elite Pete for the whisky! ;)

Linda did actually scream that we were banned just before we left.
