Electrical question
« on: 05 May 2015, 18:48:09 »

Hi all.

I've just bought a used range cooker off gumtree. It's dual fuel - gas and electric.

Should I use 10mm twin and earth to wire it or would 6mm be better?

It's a Stoves Newhome DFDL I think, with 2 ovens and a grill. The hobs are gas.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :y

Thanks.

Thanks very much. :y

Yes I bought an alternator off eBay for £28 and the garage in my street fitted it for £50. :)

A big thanks to Kevin Wood for diagnosing the problem. :y

On the back of the cooker it says 22.8KW.

Would that mean it's 95A?

Yes that's right but I'm guessing that's the total including the 8 gas burners.

I had another look on the back and in small writing it says 4205W total which I assume is for the 2 ovens and the grill.

Don't forget to wet your middle finger and touch both wires before connecting them up, Kate, just to make sure there's power like. :y
