Replacement ABS ECU
« on: 11 May 2015, 02:25:38 »

Will an ABS ECU from a 3.0, manual estate work ok in 3.0 auto saloon?
Not checked the part numbers yet for a match, if they do, happy days I guess.
But if not, what can the difference be?

The config will need changing by tech2 or similar.

The units need to know engine size and gearbox type.

Yep. it's a case that the ecu 'knows' what car it's in, however the info is requires is the drivetrain, so (as far as I'm aware) a 1997 2.0 auto ecu will work fine in a 1999 2.0 auto estate - it's only the engine size and 'box type that is recognises.

On the downside, no, you need tech 2 for that particular one, on the plus side, so long as you can get the right ecu, age and so on shouldn't be a worry.
