..as above, I have these two sitting in the garage from the piston-valve meet a couple of years back. is it worth fitting new guides, seals and valves or will that be silly expensive?

if so is scrapping an option? Are they worth anything? or shall I just launch them down the tip?

Thanks mate. before I do ill have a word with the head mechanic and see if he can get me a deal at Cylinder Head Services for the guides/stem seals.....then I may consider getting new valves. but its looking like it will probably go to the scrappie

I just had a good old fashioned clear out of parts in the garage. most useless (not sure why I hoarded lots  ) but I did find some 2.5 cams.....as they are not in order whats the way to tell which ones 1,2,3 and 4?

Ally was getting on for £1 per kilo last time weighed scrap ally rims in. You'd have to remove guides, seats etc though

If you have a spare lump and want to learn hands on about all that gubins, I can think of no better way than that

My first ever mechanical job was a HG replacement on a 405 wheezle armed with a box of second hand tools and a haynes manual.  I learnt so much from just going through each phase.  I had to fabricate a tool for the timing belt (still have it somewhere) and borrow a torque wrench but got there in the end.

If I had the room I would love to do something like that
