So, what would one pay for an ECU remap that would give me 'only' 10-20% BHP performance improvement on my 2.6 ?

The Omega V6 is pretty much at it's limit.  You'll notice bugger all from a remap.  :y

Ive Driven the 2.2 and the 3.2....i get the impression from here that the 3ltr is the better of all omegas.  :-\
I am lead to believe that the 2.6 is fairly crap and only a small step up from the 2.2...

That's a bit harsh... The 2.6 does at least have the correct number of cylinders (for an Omega at least) ::)

Trouble is finding a decent 3.0/3.2 takes time usually where as the 2.6 tends to be more common also depending on the person the 2.6 will have more than enough power for their needs.

But if a 3.0/3.2 pops up within reach pounce on it before these vultures on here grab it first  ;D

How does this bluefin work... Does it remap & then get unplugged or do you leave it plugged in to enable you to fiddle about as you're running ?

+1

Never see or heard of this set up. Always wanting to learn tho  :)

Anyone?

I went from a 2.0 to a 2.6 (via a 2.5) & the difference was very noticeable - a better engine note too !

Connect to OBD, let it load the new map, takes a few mins, then unplug and drive. And usually enjoy. Unless you have bought the wrong car with the wrong gear box.  :-X

You won't get big returns from a NA car.

Most recent auto boxes tend to learn your driving pattern and adjust to it. I remember with my BMWs there was a way to reset the gearbox to adapt to a new owner/remap.

Does the insignia have such a facility. May help adapt to the map better.

If I were to try another remap I would go the rear drive manual gearbox route.

Most people think their car is quicker after a remap because they are told by the remap company that it will be. This is further reinforced by graphs showing large gains in power, and especially torque.

I did notice the extra torque which had the effect of making the car feels like a diesel because it ran out of urge some 500 RPM earlier. As for more BHP......I couldn't find it.  Against the clock (racelogic performance box) the car was slower. Fact.

I think superchips are selling expensive snake oil.

With no experience of a Signum, I cannot comment directly.

But on a ST the Bluefin did wonders. Ok it was FWD, but manual. Quicker of the line, definitely more power and faster around Brands hatch, Snetterton and Cadwell (Bluefin and Dreamscience). Similar experience with a 335i with standard auto.

That was just us driving and using a simple timer. No fancy racelogic box etc. In fact I would question why straight line acceleration would be a useful marker to any of use who don't have the use of a so called private test track with a straight stretch of road.

So not snake oil at all. Remember there might be issues with your car that you are not aware of that the remap may be exposing. Is your clutch upto scratch? Some of the ST owners had issues and we eventually identified that they were suffering from clutch slip and once the clutch was upgraded they were able to appreciate the benefit of the remap. Alternatively it may be that the Signum is not capable of handling a power upgrade (transmission, gearbox or tyres). I suspect if they were selling snake oil they wouldnt be offering a full refund policy.

Most people only have access to the torque and power figures that Superchips provide.

I would be interested to see independent 'before and after' dyno figures.

My guess is that most turbo petrol cars would show an increase in torque but with little or no gains in BHP.....and possibly a small loss.

My car felt like a diesel after the remap because it lost it's ability to rev. It wouldn't run smoothly either.
