I've been using GM 10w40 semi in mine since I got the car.

Is anyone using or swopped over to GM 5w30 Dexos 2 engine oil from 10w40 semi and are there any advantages or disadvantages in using this instead?

I swapped to use 0W-40 from 5W-30 because here in Finland it is often cold starts and vent lifters kept noise long time after cold starting the engine. Also I noticed approvement on oil consumption when changed to use 0W-40.

I would GUESS that changing from the GM semi to the full fat MAY cause leaks as the new full fat stuff is more slippery. And if you have a slight weeping somewhere that wasn't apparent using semi, the new stuff may find its way out.

Try it. Change back if you notice any leaks. Or fix the source of the leak. If you can be arsed

I think I will stay with the tried and tested GM 10w40. No leaks at the moment. 

I've never seen a 20 liter drum of GM 10w40 before. Is this genuine GM oil and what is the difference between Trade Club oil and non trade club?

I've been using GM trade 10/40' in all my Omegas since 2005, don't see advantage in 5-30 with English climate.

10/40 is very well tried and tested here, with great results

Looks genuine Andy. Might be worth a call to "Drive" in Avon Street to get a trade price though

Rob, just phoned Drive and they quoted £22.50 + VAT for 20 liters 10w40. That sound to cheep to me.

Then I asked about 20 liters of Antifreeze and was quoted £48 + VAT.
