1986 .It was an amstrad [ don't recall the model].
Cost about £700 with a black and white screen.
I seem to remember the operating system was at extra cost.
It did not have gigabytes,or i think megabytes. It had kilobytes.
What did it do?.F##k all as far as i can remember. :y :y :y :y :y

Suppose my 1st 'IBM compatible pc'

was the one i got after school to use at college

a 386 DX 40, 2 mb ram, 40mb hard drive

Was the envy of most the course in those days.

Upgraded the 2 mb of ram (in 256k sims) to 5mb and ran Windows 3.1  it absolutley flew in comparison to most of the day.

You'll remember the DX were good because they had the built in math coprocessor

had a 1mb video card, cutting edge stuff
it could run 800*600 at 16.7 million colours (just)

Happy Days!!!

Sad to admit, but as I am sorting to move home I found some old bitz and pieces.  Free to a good home if anyone wants to upgrade.

Bundle of 256k simms
10 MB MFM drive and daisy chain cables.
2 x Boxes of Brand new 180 TPI DSDD 8" Floppy Disks
2 5.25 Floppy drives
and
a 386 Maths co processor.
