Bad news for those planning to attend the 2nd day of this great air show;  it HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED for Sunday as well!

What a disaster for prospective attenders, also for the organisers; all that preparation down the plug-hole

One day last week, I saw four Eurofighter Typhoons flying about this area in formation; when I watched the Tv coverage of the R.A.F`s 90 years flypast I saw 4 Typhoons also in diamond-formation: maybe they`d been around here practicing.
I see many fast jets (at low altitude) on a daily basis here; TBH, I find it very 'moving' watching them.

I see many fast jets (at low altitude) on a daily basis here; TBH, I find it very 'moving' watching them.

Not only must the organizers and spectators be really gutted, but my thoughts are with the crews who no doubt put a lot of effort into the preparation for this show.

Not all is lost though for anyone who can get to Duxford today. A B17, 'Liberty Bell', one of only 17 B17's still flying apparently, has been flown 8,000 miles via Greenland, retracing the old WW2 route from the States, to be at Duxford for yesterday and todays Flying Legends show. 8-) 8-)  Maybe the Fairford disappointment will provide a positive with an increase of the crowds for the show Duxford display.

With the B17 is one particular 8th Army Air Force veteran who flew this plane during the very costly daylight raids. The B17 and crew will then will fly it, for probably the last time, back to the States, with the veteran on what has been stated as definately his last  flight with his beloved B17 .  We owe him, and all Allied WW2 pilots, big time!

It sure was a shame but, didn't seem to have much impact on our standard RIAT weekend (beer, beer, more beer, pub, eat lots of dead animals, beer....).

Saw a little bit of flyng on Friday early evening.....including:.

A late spitfire flying absolutely balls out with a Typhoon in formation behind it.......probably with stall alarms going off in the cockpit!

We went and had a little look at what was tehre from the perimeter road on the Saturday afternoon, B52, B1, Typhoons, loads of display hawks etc etc etc.......

But, the fields were totally bogged out, and that was after only a small amount of use on the friday!

I think they did the right thing, 50,000 cars stuck in grass fields is not good!.

We hadenough fun getting into the camping filed (yes it was fun, traction control off !)
