Oh no, what a shock :o.

I'm delighted they are able to call on their son for refuge.

As no insurance, and mileage it getting stuff lifted out of the water to allow it to drain before the water stains too much? Or is it already too late? I know when bro's shop floods, we lift stuff up onto the counters, so only the bottom of the wooden counters, carpets and walls get damaged - the counters clean up OK, so just new carpets and a lick of paint...  ...though we normally catch it fairly quickly after it happens.

We moved what we could up stairs eg telly and some other electric stuff. But things like the fridge & freezer, furniture had to stay where they were   :'(

We going back down soon to see what we can do ..... the water had all drained away by 10 o'clock last night leaving a lovely sludge of unmentionable everywhere  ???

Glad your folks are safe. Loss of possessions can be heartbreaking, but at the end of the day, they can be replaced, but people cant.  :y
The bullsh*t hysteria from the media and politicians regarding the causes of the flooding make my blood boil.  >:(

People seem to think that, because we live in a modern, tech-savvy country, we can prevent things like this happening. You just can't tame Mother Nature, get used to it.

Still very bad for those affected, poor souls. I was amazed to hear today that people were actually visiting York to 'have a look' at the devastation. That's all they need.

 ......

Thanks. They've both landed on their feet  ;) ;)

As you say, it's heartbreaking seeing the thousand of pounds worth outside people's houses or in skips
