Hi all
My car runs fine and HD very regular services, it's a 2.2 dti. A few friends use a couple of different brands of fuel additives in there engines. Has anybody got any opinions on this, are they worth the mone. Will they do as they say on the bottle??? Increase response, fuel consumption and so on.

I've used. Cataclean, Wynns, Forte.. Can't say which works the best but I have notice Cataclean seems to liven the engine up a tad and a little more mpg, Plus it's a good thing to use before an MOT. I usually get it from eBay or Amazon or Euro Car Parts depending who's the cheapest usually around £13.

Based on what? Heresay? A vivid imagination? Or simply an overwhelming urge to say summat contrary because I said it?

Wynns lifter treatment I've seen work (though not always - it won't repair a fooked lifter).  Forte fuel system cleaner works in petrol cars. Redex for diesel can help reduce smog if you use supermarket diesel.

Holts Speedflush is shite for cleaning coolant systems. Their engine oil flush is equally shite.

These are based on my own personal experience.

I used redex to revive the injectors on my Mk3 mondeo tddi. Not in the recommended concentration mind, 1 bottle of redex to 4.5L diesel. The clouds of cr@p made the whole cul de sac look like the set of Starlight Express  ;D

Never used a petrol additive, never seen a need, but if I did, I'd give it a whirl.

Use to add redex neat into the carb while the car was running years ago , was most pleasing seeing a cloud of smoke and crap fly out the pipes  :D Just ordered some WYNNS PETROL INJECTOR CLEANER ADDITIVE and will add some special high octane  :P

Are those sort of comments really necessary?  Grow up and act your age!   >:(

As it happens I endorse your comments on Wynns products having used them mysef over many years.  They certainly aren't "snakeoil".

Fwiw I just used some Wurth engine flush on MrsGK' s Lupo and it worked a treat - sorted the tapping from the top end.  :y
