Induction Hob, Pots, Pans etc Question.
« on: 06 April 2016, 16:46:18 »

OK, new toy, well new for me, so first thing I do is to test what pans I already have, Google says anything magnetic will work, but dont use cooper or metal thats not magnetic.

So, out with a speaker magnet, Omega Bose Sub if you must know, and sadly most pans fail the magnetic test, but zirk being zirk, thought I would test some of the non magnetic ones, an sure enough most work, Stainlees Steel Wok and some Cooper based ones heat up water a trick, despite failing the magnet test.

So what the crack here, is it a case of if it works, it works, or am I likely doing damage to the hob but not using the recommended pans.  :-\

Common materials include stainless steel multi-ply, stainless steel with a ferrous base welded to the bottom of the pan, cast aluminium
with ferrous base, mild steel (black iron) and cast iron. If your copper pans have a ferrous content, they`re perfectly acceptable to use. Any pan with a ferrous content will heat the contents quicker than pans with no ferrous content.

If you're really attached to your pans, you can use one of  these Basically a ferrous plate with a handle on that goes between hob & pan  :y :y
