I've already got some carb cleaner. Could it just be dirt caught in it then?
I guess it still needs removing for cleaning?
Fit a.new valve ;)

I was thinking that is probably the most cost effective option.
Only thing is when I look up "52458177" it keeps coming up with different part numbers aswell.
If we go into vauxhall and ask for 52458177 will they know what we mean?

Give the whole valve a good squirt of the cleaner. Every little helps! Wait for the cleaner to evaporate before you unscrew the valve.

A new valve is so cheap it makes no sense to reuse your old one.

Is there any point in cleaning it if we're changing the valve anyway?

Well... There is that :D

Nick makes a valid point though... Clean the area around it ;)

It's just like hydraulic or pneumatic systems, you don't want any dirt in there.

Make sure you take the part number with you!!!  Vx Dealers do not like to sell the valve on it's own, at least the two in my area don't anyway!

It took me a couple of days of phone calls, including to Vx HQ to get the part that the Vx Dealer (Dan Harford, Kingswood, Bristol) who is less than half a mile from my house to acknowledge that they could sell me the valve separate from the complete pipe.

THEN, they had to call 'Drive Vauxhall', (Avon Street, Bristol) who had stock of the part, even though earlier in the week the ONLY valve they had was the schrader valve for the low pressure pipe.

They did accept my £4.odd and deliver it to my house free of charge though.

I can't see why Vauxhall seem to have problems with this valve .... it's the same valve that was fitted to my Astra's a/c
