Picked some packs up today, 32 Bits and a Drill Extension, works out at 3p per bit, £1 a Pack (Poundland). 

If like me, youve lost or ruined the bits/ bit holder from the Halfords Tool Kit, Ive cut one of the red holders down to fit with the bits I need to replace.

Ok, they might not last long, the Halfords ones didn't either, but Ive tried expensive Titanium ones in my drill and they dont last either.

Bargain, I bought a couple of similar sets about a year ago, 40 piece I think for £1.99

Cettainly some bargains out there.

Likewise, but got mine a few years back.  Well used now (well some of the bits, not all), and still ok.  Think I paid around £2 for my set.

Picked up one of them little drill attachment magnetic jobbies on the right of your pick, at a car boot sale, which means I can now click any of my driver bits into, when using the small ratchet. The absolutely ridiculous thing about the socket you get with the Halfords kit is it isn’t magnetic. Pretty stupid when you’re trying to undo a screw unless it’s perfectly horizontal, or pointing upwards. 

Yes, the attachment will fall out as easily, but you’ve got more chance holding on to it, and also it’s a damn sight easier to find when you do drop it!

It does come with a spring to retain the bit, which works well for the first 3.5 times you use it.

"magnetic telescopic screwdrivers" (google it, loads to choose from)  are a great addition to the tool box as well

I only say knackered as they're the only type of speaker I possess 


Picked up a screwdriver with the magnetic socket attached, too. an amazing £1 from a 2nd hand hop up the road. Payed for itself after the first use

Don`t buy their screw sets, tried to pump a few of their 3 inch screws into a fence panel last weekend
Even on a low torque setting my drill chewed the face of the screw before it was halfway into softwood

Have done similar but they came in  plastic molded tubs and have had them several years and they still work. Not everything has to be snapon grade

My only issue with the Halfords so far is the lack of magnetism, as said, and the consequential loss of one so far. Now replaced. Spending a few seconds checking which bit properly fits the screw in question, be it philips or pozidrive (which many people still think are the same) then using care when undoing. Best practice and all that.

And then the old rusty screw still rounds, but the theory is there
