Oil filter cannister

Does the O ring need replacing after taking cannister off?and if so where to get one?is it the same size as the cannister lid O ring?

If it's hard or cracked/split then it needs replacing.

Completely different size to cap seal.

Never ever needed to replace one personally, they are quite a complex rubber as I did buy one and Elite Pete had it when he damaged one on removal.

if you've removed the filter housing why not convert to spin on? http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90579.0  the adapter is probably not much more than the o ring.

cos there's nothing wrong with the original design .......

both my Smart & Merc both have a replaceable filter type oil filter, though the housing are both plastic ...... never even looked at the Shitroen's  :-X
