I got caught this year as well, I went 16 years with nothing and then got caught with an unmarked car, I did learn my lesson and have slowed down.

Think this is someones way of saying time to slow down a bit  :(

Think your insurance will start to go up now as well, and you are obliged to tell em youve just got points (NOW) else they can declare your insurance void!

Just after I got my 3 points i rang the insurance co. up and they said i didn't have to declare them until renewal time, so it might be dependant on which company you are with.

got 3 points back in 2001 for a speed camera which did me for 31 in a 30 zone.

3 points in 2005 for... lets just say... testing purposes of engine on empty motorway...  should of been a ban, but the unmarked that pulled me had a good chat and said he'll just do me SP50 which was nice :)

3 points in 2007 from a scamera partnership van which got me as i was moving out of the way for an ambulance  >:(

Currently in the process of suing Bruce Forsyth for false information in regards to him saying Points mean Prizes  :D

Altho...

Bike insurance is only £7 more a year with the points declared than without, and car insurance is about £20 more than without points, so they make bugger all difference!

Dont think it will......Insurance companies are used to drivers having points on their licenses. I asked....not that i have any points on mine ( well its says 3 but they are 'spent' ) mine reckons 6 points is fine ( i asked when i was renting cars ) 9 points or more and they might make an extra charge.....

So i used to advertise......"no more than 6 points on your license"  ;D

I thought they allowed 10% tolerance etc?

I know it sounds patronising but if you don't break the limit you won't get a fine. I'm not critisising because I had a pretty swift motorway run on wednesday morning ::) - but ultimately if you break the set limit, it's only a matter of luck whether or not you get caught!

Aye I know, not arsed tho in all fairness as its done bugger all to premium prices

the 10% isn't compulsory, its down to the operator of the camera really...

I've only ever had 6 points - but they were in one go (99.51mph...)

Made burger all difference to my premiums as I could tell, but I did declare it straight away as I didn't want the buggers to have a "get out" clause in case anything happened.

Up to 6 points with an "SP" prefix they aren't that bothered about.  Anything with "IN" or "DD" usually ends in the dial tone..

i got an sp30 4 years ago in october (getting rid of them this year) and the weird thing was that i had gone through that camera every day for a year at 50mph + until i realised that its a 40 mph stretch !! they must have taken pity on me with my 330 tickets !!!
now once a month i contact my fleet operator to see whether i have any speeding fines in the system as i do 750 miles a week in my little blue van !!!!!  :-X

oh and to add to the subject of insurance i told my insurance company about my sp30 and they wern't really interested until its 6+ points, i got told the reason is everyone can accidentally get flashed once but if you don't learn from it you are in some way irresponsible about your driving- and an insurance risk!
-straight from the horses mouth !!  :(
