As a result of guidance from here, I installed the VW relay and it is great - when the rain level is constant! The slight downside is having to re-programme it continually when the rain changes level.

True... still got the original wheel, but to move it down a 'notch' is literally a second's work, but with the relay I can imagine pratting around for several attempts every time to match the rain speed... which then changes, of course. However, won't knock it till I've tried it, so will be giving it a go at some point.  :y

I find that the wheel doesn't give a long enough delay. That's true for all adjustable intermittent wipers that I've used. Modern electronics should make continuously variable wipers possible: one rotary switch that goes from off, through variable slow/medium/fast delay , then into adjustable speed.

Turn off intermittent wipe until required time has elapsed  then turn back on easy peasy ;)
